2025 Paroo Shire Photography Competition
The 2025 Paroo Shire Photo Competition is a year-long photography competition designed to highlight the beauty of the Paroo Shire region while engaging the community and raising funds for a local charity. This competition will feature a winning “Photo of the Month”, with all twelve winners showcased in a professionally published calendar or photo book for 2026. Proceeds from sales of this publication will support a designated local charity or not-for-profit organisation.
THE QUICK BITS
- Duration: January 1, 2025, to November 30, 2025.
- Monthly Feature: Each month, one winning photo will be selected and featured as the “Photo of the Month.”
- Publication: All winning photos will be included in a 2026 Paroo Shire calendar, or similar printed publication, available for purchase in late 2025
WHAT ARE WE JUDGING ON?
- Visual Impact: Does the photo captivate and engage the viewer?
- Creativity: How uniquely does the photo capture the essence of the Paroo Shire?
- Technical Quality: Is the photo well-composed, well-lit, and high-quality?
- Relevance: Does the photo align with the themes of natural beauty, culture, lifestyle or community within the Paroo Shire?
HOW TO ENTER
- Email up to five (5) original images per month to: [email protected] with the subject line ‘2025 Photo Comp Entry’ and your name.
- Alternatively, you can post your images to social media (Facebook or Instagram) with the Hashtag: #ParooPhotoComp2025 to be entered for the month they were originally posted.
- Images do not have to be taken during the month of entry, older images may be entered providing they are an original image and have been taken within the Paroo Shire Boundary.

ENTRY GUIDELINES
- To participate in the 2025 Paroo Shire Photo Competition, entrants must submit their photos via email to [email protected] or use #ParooPhotoComp2025 on any social media posts. Each submission must include the following details:
- Name of Entrant: Full name of the photographer.
- Preferred Watermark: Specify the name or text to be used as a watermark credit on the photo.
- Image Name (if applicable): Provide a title or name for the photo.
- Image Description: Include a brief story or description of the image, highlighting its significance and the location where it was taken.
- Subject Permissions: Written confirmation that any person or persons featured in your image have provided permission for their likeness to be used (or a legal parent or guardian for anyone under the age of 18 years).
Please ensure that submissions meet the competition’s quality and format requirements as outlined below. Entrants may submit up to five (5) photos per month, and all submissions must adhere to the competition rules.
THE SERIOUS BITS
- Eligibility: The competition is open to all photographers, amateur or professional, locals or non-locals.
- Originality: All submissions must be original works of the entrant.
- Location: Photos must be taken within the boundaries of the Paroo Shire.
- Permissions:
- By entering, participants grant the Paroo Shire Council & Cunnamulla Tourism permission to use their images for promotional purposes across social media, print and other platforms. Credit will be given to the photographers via a visible watermark.
- Participants agree to allow their images to be included in a Paroo Shire calendar or photo book that may be produced in 2026 and any other related promotional materials. Credit will be maintained through watermarking.
- The entrant must provide confirmation in writing that any person or persons included in their photographic entry have given permission for their likeness to be used (or a legal parent or guardian for anyone U18yrs).
- Format: Submissions must meet minimum quality standards (e.g., 300 DPI resolution) suitable for both digital and print use, supplied in digital format only, with a minimum of 1200 Pixels along the smallest side (i.e 1600 x 1200 or larger).
- Entry Limit: Participants can submit up to five (5) photos per month.
- Disqualification: Images containing inappropriate content or that do not comply with the above rules will be disqualified.
