Getting to Cunnamulla

Whatever your timeframe or budget, you have a number of options for travelling to our shire

Drive

Paroo Shire lies at the crossroads of two great Australian drives, the Adventure Way and the Matilda Way. The highways are now sealed, and unless conditions are wet, most places of interest can be reached by conventional vehicles.

MATILDA WAY: BOURKE – KARUMBA

This fully sealed 1812km highway stretches from the New South Wales border all the way to the Gulf of Carpentaria.


ADVENTURE WAY: BRISBANE – CUNNAMULLA – ADELAIDE

Now fully sealed, the 2088km Adventure Way follows the wheel ruts of the old Cobb & Co route from Brisbane to Adelaide.

Fly

REX (Regional Express Airlines) flies twice weekly between Brisbane and Cunnamulla. Known as the Cobb & Co Flight Route, you’ll stop in Toowoomba and St George in both directions.

Flights leave Brisbane Wednesday and Sunday at 8am arriving at 11.15am.
They depart Cunnamulla the same days at 1.55pm arriving in Brisbane at 5.10

Coach

Murrays Coaches runs two services per week between Toowoomba and Cunnamulla.

These services Depart Brisbane 7am Friday and Sunday and set down in Toowoomba and St George before arriving at 7pm.
They then leave Cunnamulla at 7am Monday and Saturday arriving in Brisbane approximately 12 hours later.

Rail

The historic Westlander train travels from Brisbane across the Great Dividing Range to Charleville twice weekly.

They leave Brisbane at approximately 7pm on a Tuesday and Thursday. This service connects with a rail coach service arriving in Cunnamulla at 2.30pm the following day. (Wed and Fri)
The rail coach then leaves at approx 3pm Wed and Friday, connecting in Charleville and arriving in Brisbane approx 11.30am the following day. (Thurs and Sat)

Taxi Service

Most of Cunnamulla is easy walking distance.
