INDIGENOUS USE:

Medicinal for colds.

DESCRIPTION:

Densely compact thick shrub grows to 1.5m. Very hardy plant growing on most soil types.

BARK:

Woody stemmed shrub.

LEAVES:

Alternate dark green leaves are tapered at both ends.

FLOWERS:

Coloured red through to yellow, bell shaped with red or brown spots inside. Winter spring flowering and often through to summer. 15-20mm globular fruit is hard and smooth when ripe and very succulent. Browsed by stock but is known to be toxic at certain times or if stock are under duress.
