12. Silver leafed ironbark

Shade and shelter tree. Timber used for fence posts and sleepers.

INDIGENOUS USE:

DESCRIPTION:

Small to medium tree to 20m, distinctive tree with a silvery crown, often gnarled and can be straggly, well suited to hard exposed situations.

BARK:

Hard and very dark (reddish black) deeply furrowed with good coverage.

LEAVES:

Silver, bluey-grey leaves, oval to round in shape and they grow opposite each other.

FLOWERS:

White coloured growing in clusters of 3-6, flowering in spring through summer. Only browsed by stock in hard times.
